Airport network secured.
As you may know, “digital security” becomes an issue nowadays. Our servers are secured with various firewalls – but our wireless network access points were not secured in any way.
Now, the Airport-network is secured via encrypted communication and MAC-address access control.
Every network interface has an unique MAC-address (the word “MAC” has nothing to do with Apple) its vendor gave it. With this MAC-address, a device can be identified. Our airport network only grants access to devices that use MAC-adressses it knows.
To become a user the Airport-network “knows”, do the folllowing:
The MAC-address of your airport-card can be found in your system preferences within the “network”-tab. Look within your Airport preferences for a number like this “00:30:65:11:e3:f6”.
Write it down and send an email including your name, MAC-adress and IP-address to Gunnar Stenzel.
